All About Asia

Well, I finally have some time to write about what's been going on. Not too much, but I wanted to tell about Asia's first day of preschool. It was more than a week ago, so we'll see what I can remember! She was so excited to finally start school, since Ethan had started more than a week before her and so did most of her friends. We got her a new princess backpack and picked out her clothes the night before. So different than Ethan. He couldn't care less about what he was going to wear. I guess it's a girl thing. She woke up that morning so excited to go. Her Auntie Joy teaches her at her house, so she wasn't nervous at all. It was just like going over there to play. When I picked her up, I asked her how school was. She said it was really fun, she got to play, and have a snack, and she played with a boy named Sam. She couldn't stop talking about Sam. She does tend to play well with the boys! All in all, I think it was a pretty good first day of preschool.

Asia also got to participate in a Cheer Camp for kids aged 3 to 14. A girl in my YW was involved in this and thought Asia would really love it. When we got to the high school where it was at, I could see Asia getting a little nervous. She said, "There's a lot of girls here Mom." Luckily, her best friend Mara was there who is not very shy at all. They got to hang out all day and even have lunch there. Asia said that was the coolest part! She learned a new cheer and a dance, all in one morning. She's not the most rythmically inclined person and not flexible at all, so I don't think cheer is the thing for her. I keep telling her she's going to play basketball and volleyball just like her mommy because she's so tall. I think she had fun, but she did come home with a bit of a new attitude! Here's her little friend Mara. She's perfect cheer material; very flexible and very rythmically inclined.

The State Fair

My sister and brother-in-law came down to visit us for the long weekend. Not to see us, but to go to the State Fair! JK! But that is one thing Cynthia really likes to do for some reason! I don't know if it's the stinky animals, all of the SFLB's or the greasy food, but it's one of my favorite things to do also! We checked out the science exhibits, the kiddie play area, got faces painted, went to the petting zoo, ate, went on a zoo train, looked at the stinky animals, ate again, and then went on the rides. It was a very hot day when we went, but we all did ok. We just drank lots of water and tried to find shade wherever we could. We should've just went and rode the rides right when we got there because that's all the kids wanted to do! Next year we'll know better!

Shark Teeth

One day, a couple of months ago, Ethan came up to me and said, "Mom, I have shark teeth!" I had no idea what he was talking about. I guess I hadn't looked in his mouth lately, but there was a whole 'nother tooth just growing away in there! It was behind his front baby tooth so it wasn't even moving the baby tooth out. He had been pretty sad because all of his friends were losing teeth left and right and he didn't even have one loose. No wonder!

So, we tried wiggling the baby tooth to try and get it to come out on its own, but that wasn't working. We had to go to Dr. O and get it pulled. Ethan kept asking me if it was going to hurt. I told him maybe a little, but just for a minute and then your tooth will pop right out. Well, he was all excited because he knew the Tooth Fairy would be coming to our house that night. He was fine with the gas and the needles and everything. When the doctor started pulling the teeth out, it was pretty uncomfortable for him. The roots on those suckers were super long! I guess when there's no tooth pushing on the baby tooth, the root doesn't disintegrate at all and then you get monster roots! All he said was OW, but then he was fine. Until we got outside. He was embarassed to do anything in front of anyone, but when we got outside, the waterworks and the drama started! He didn't stop crying until we got home and I told him I had a surprise for him. Good thing the dentist is only 5 minutes away!

I had bought a little Tooth Fairy kit at Seagull book one day and decided that would be the thing to calm Ethan down. It's a pretty cute book with all kinds of teeth facts and a little tooth pillow to put your teeth in. Ethan couldn't wait to put his teeth in and go to bed! The next morning he came into my room and couldn't wait to show me the 4 quarters he had gotten for his 2 teeth. The Tooth Fairy must have gotten a raise since I lost my teeth! I think I only got a nickle or dime per tooth! Oh, I say "teeth" because there was another shark tooth coming in right next to the other shark tooth. So Dr. O just decided to pull both of them. Two for the price of one, right. We'll see when the bill comes!
